What is Reishi?
Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is a forest-dwelling fungus that lives and feeds on hardwood trees. You'll only find this powerful mushroom in vibrant old-growth forests.
Throughout history, reishi has been regarded as one of the most powerful tonic herbs available. In ancient China, reishi was prohibitively expensive - only the emperor and elite class could afford to take reishi on a regular basis. It was sought after for its anti-ageing and adaptogenic qualities.
Experts suggest you need to take a large dose of reishi over long periods of time to get maximum benefit. This 15:1 extract offers 15 times the active ingredients in every gram of reishi powder. This allows you to get an effective dose of reishi with just 1-2 capsules per day.
How Does Reishi Work?
Reishi contains over a dozen active ingredients. However, the most important are the polysaccharides - which are long, complex chains of sugar molecules.
Reishi's active ingredients work by mimicking different parts of the immune system. They activate our T-helper cells designed to recognize foreign invaders and sound the alarm to other parts of the immune system. Some polysaccharides activate B-cells, which serve as one of the key components of our adaptive immune system.
