What is Coconut Sugar? Bio Coconut Sugar is a delicious and healthy alternative to sugar. Coconut sugar is made by boiling the sap of the coconut blossom until it makes a caramel, which is then air-dried and turned into sugar. The sugar is then filtered through a mesh to create a fine granulate. With its rich caramel flavor it is ideal to be used as a dessert ingredient or to sweeten hot drinks, baked goods and more. Vegan, bio, gluten-free, lactose-free product. What benefits does Coconut Sugar have? Suitable for diabetics (without abusing its consumption). Low glycemic level, which controls blood sugar levels. Contribution of phosphorus and calcium. Potassium contribution. Keeps the nervous system in a calm state. Promotes blood flow. What is the difference between coconut sugar and white sugar? The main characteristic of coconut sugar is that it has a low glycemic index (GI). The glycemic index measures the rate at which carbohydrates are converted to glucose in the blood. In this way, a food with a low glycemic index will cause a small increase and one with a high glycemic index will cause a very high spike in blood sugar. Another property of coconut sugar is its nutritional content, much higher than that of white sugar. Coconut sugar is rich in potassium, magnesium, zinc, and iron, and is a natural source of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, and C. It also contains 16 of the 20 essential amino acids. The one found with the highest amount is glutamine. This amino acid allows us to maintain an acid/alkaline balance in our body and helps us control impulses to eat sweet foods. How to use Coconut Sugar? The uses of coconut sugar in daily food are diverse, it can be used as traditional sugar to sweeten coffee, milk, yogurt,... and as an ingredient for pastry recipes such as cookies, cakes, flans, biscuits.
